Why I Prefer Albania Over Virgin Islands
Albania is a relatively tiny but very pretty country in the Balkans, not too far from Italy. This country is one of the least visited countries in southern Europe but that will change before you know it as travellers start to take notice of its amazing sites. It has wonderful, clean sandy beaches, virtually untouched mountain regions, and fun, improving cities.
Albania’s pure white sandy beaches are unbelievable. Albanian beaches are most often white, sandy beaches but there are a dozen or so pebble beaches too. You can spend time in the warm sun on a mat or get a sun bed, the choice is up to you. Many of the beaches are virtually untouched by foreigners and a number are so quiet that you could have the beach pretty much all to yourself, even in in during popular times.
There are quite a few mountainous landscapes in Albania. The mountainous regions in the north are amazing for skiing or hiking and you can visit a few waterfalls and clean lakes in that part of the country. The mountains in that region are fantastic to view but the other mountain regions are also brilliant.
Albanian cities are fun with a cafe culture leading to a lot of trendy cafes to relax in. Albania cities such as Tirana are worth spending a few days in to visit the unique old city area and also to visit a museum.
Albanians are extremely friendly and will be more than happy to take you around their country if you take the time to visit it.
