Albanian Tattoo
Tattoos are pretty common amongst Albanians, both men and women. The typical Albanian tattoo is of something Albanian. For example, the Albanian eagle or the name of the person’s city of origin.
Albanian Tattoo
So a tattoo of the Albanian eagle is pretty common, so is a tattoo of the Albanian flag. Tattoos are available in the Albanian language but you can get them in English too. Just ask the tattooist for what you want on your tattoo and they’ll do it for you.
Another typically Albanian tattoo is that of a map of Albania. This can be the official Albanian map or a map of ‘greater Albania’.
Pictures or photos of Albanian tattoos can be found online or you can make your own up.

No commentsAlbanian Cash
Albanian cash used with Albania is the lek. Although it’s the official currency, Euros and Dollars are also widely used, especially for large cash purchases.
Up until recently, Albania didn’t have cash machines so it was a little difficult to get money when you were in Albania. It can still be difficult and there are some restrictions on how much money you can withdraw from an Albanian cash machine but it’s now much easier to access cash from your overseas account.
Albanian Cash Machines
Albanian cash machines can be found in most of the larger Albanian cities although they can also be found in a smaller towns where tourists are likely to visit.
Don’t forget to change your Albanian cash (lek) before leaving the country as it can be difficult if not impossible to change when you are back in your home country.
No commentsAlbanian Tirana Vacation
An Albanian Tirana vacation is what I need at the moment. I’d love to be in the Albanian capital at the moment. The weather is great and it has recently had a good clean as a result of the trip by the current US President, George W Bush.
A vacation in Tirana means a relaxing time, eating and drinking, and spending time with family and friends. That’s my idea of a great vacation anyway. There is plenty to see, such as the famous monuments in the historical centre of Tirana. Great food can be enjoyed in the many cafes and restaurants and of course it’s cheap to eat out, making it all the more enjoyable.
August isn’t the best time to visit Albania because this is the month when so many Albanians working in Europe return to Albania for their annual vacation. I’ve never understood the European tradition of taking August of work along with millions of other people. Why not spread the vacations out during the year? So anyway, what this means is that it’s very expensive to travel to Albania in August. Any other month is significantly cheaper.
So if you want cheap flights for your Albania Tirana vacation then don’t travel in August. I might book my Albanian vacation for September.

Albanian clothes are affordable and generally well made. Some Albanian designers have opened shops in Italy selling high quality clothes. Albanian clothing can also be found online at places such as Albanian Designs at CafePress.
Albania is a mountainous county situated on the Mediterranean. After many years of suffering under communist rule Albania is now an emerging democracy which is booming.
While Albania still has some improvements to make such as maintaining a constant supply of electricity and fixing a dodgy phone system, this can be overlooked when you encounter the generosity of the local people and when visiting the beautiful countryside.

No commentsTropoja
Tropoja is located 260kms north of Tirana, close to the border with Kosova. It is not far from the city of Gjakova and is also within easy reach of other cities in Kosova. The region is best visited with your own transport so you can stop off at the many vantage points in the mountains and overlooking lakes.
If you are lucky enough to have visited Tropoja, you might like a souvenir t-shirt of the city. Tropoja t-shirts are available in many sizes and styles. These make great gifts for family and friends or just for yourself as a reminder of this beautiful region and country.
1 commentAlbanians Getting Deported from the US
Many Albanian families are now being deported from the US after having lived legally in the country for more than 10 or 13 years writes Closed Cafeteria:
Many local Albanian immigrants came as refugees from political turmoil in Albaniaitself, or in portions of the former Yugoslavia such as Montenegro, Macedonia and Kosovo during the 1990s. When they arrived in the United States, they applied for political asylum and were granted authorization to work, but their asylum request has been denied. Local community activists, however, say their cases are complicated because:
- The government didn’t rule on their applications until seven or more years later, because of a backlog. By then, the political conditions had changed in their home countries and officials denied they faced persecution or danger.
- The rulings were based on current conditions, not conditions prevailing when they came here. But in the meantime, many refugees had married, had children, put in years working at jobs or started businesses, and bought houses.
I don’t understand why these people are being deported when my husband’s Albanian cousin was given asylum after having initially been refused. He was supposed to leave the country but never did and continued to work in the black. A number of years later he was given a Green Card. Then his mother arrived on a 3 months tourist visa which she overstayed by a few years and then she got a Green Card too. Strange system if you ask me.
