Albanian cash used with Albania is the lek. Although it’s the official currency, Euros and Dollars are also widely used, especially for large cash purchases.

Up until recently, Albania didn’t have cash machines so it was a little difficult to get money when you were in Albania. It can still be difficult and there are some restrictions on how much money you can withdraw from an Albanian cash machine but it’s now much easier to access cash from your overseas account.

Albanian cash machines can be found in most of the larger Albanian cities although they can also be found in a smaller towns where tourists are likely to visit.

Don’t forget to change your Albanian cash (lek) before leaving the country as it can be difficult if not impossible to change when you are back in your home country.
